Step One

I have embarked on a journey to build a structure from the ground up using only my thoughts, my sketches, my ideas, my very first project start to finish..........  This project is not for me but for someone who I know very well, my mother.   This close relationship gives me the freedom to take risks (not to many) and a chance to observe her day to day routines and schedules. Learning the in's and outs of my mother even though she cant describe them makes this project  a unique design experience . After working in the design field for the last 7 years I have seen so many projects get to the "yes this project is going to be different" stage but then things get dicey. Budgets get cut, unique design features get thrown out, alternatives become the typical instead of the creative.  Well not this project, sure I have parameters to follow, a budget but no one can stop my creativity from reaching the end of this project.  I'm even going to have to pick up a hammer or finish up the tile in the bathroom, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Discovering a new town can be a bit overwhelming, finding the best spots, new friends, the beginnings....... this weekend was not one of those wandering aimlessly " where should we go....i don't know" weekends.  It was a weekend full of films, movies in the street (Princess Bride on hay bales oh ya!), documentaries and filmmakers flooded my little town to view films not yet available to the general public. It was such a wonderful reflection on why my husband and I decided to uproot our comfortable life and start all over in this small teeny town.

Dive was an amazing film about dumpster diving, and Queen of the Sun  was a shocking documentary about the honey bee crisis and monoculture farming. (Both films were epic life changing get off your bum and do something it!)

Well, its been a bit of a bumpy road, but I'm up and running in blog world........ and ready to start down my new path. This blog will be a bit of an arrangement of design, photography and everyday life of myself and whoever I'm with. Im hoping to expand my horizons, see some personal growth as an artist (still dont like calling myself that) and who knows what else!
