Non Original Idea

I haven't shared with you until now, that I call my project The Treehouse.  It is a guesthouse / garage that I'm building first, and the second phase will be the main house. I am doing this in phases so that I can shift my mother and ourselves around while living here and also to tackle a smaller project to get comfortable with running a job site.  Its not necessarily a tree house per-say but it will be overlooking a wonderful grouping of trees and being elevated on the second level gives you that hidden / secure effect of being protected.

While in Seattle last weekend, I stumbled across this building with the EXACT same material that I was planning on using for exterior siding. Everything about this building made me want to jump out of my skin,  with excitement of course......I have been in search of raw, unusual, off the beaten path materials for quite some time.  Even though I'm estatic to see that it works, I'm beginning to believe that there are no original ideas left out there in the universe.

  1. Is this CORTEN a rusted steel that you can treat to look like this or let it happen naturally with the weather in good o'Washington.

  2. From the look of the water patterns on the metal I believe that it was just steel that was aged on the building over time from the good o'washington weather. Im in the process of aging a sheet of metal myself to see how long it will take to look like that building, so will keep you posted! Thanks for the comment!

  3. Rust is one of my very favorite colors and . . . elements? Is that what you would call it? anyway this is so incredibly gorgeous and makes me want to reside my entire house with this stuff. great great choice, even if its not 100% original. If you had not seen it there would be a chance that it would suffer from practicality issues or something right? Take that Petal Gary and I were talking about. I think It is GREAT news that something like it is on the market! Shows there is demand, now lest make it cooler and better! most great inventions have just taken something and made it better. (Put that in your back pocket Gary.)
